Dangerous and unnecessary
Janet Yellen has warned that a government shut down would be “…dangerous and unnecessary.”
Let’s parse this a bit and begin to understand what she means by “dangerous and unnecessary”. After all, as the current acting Secretary of the Treasury, and the previous Chair of the Federal Reserve, and also previous leader of the White House Counsel of Economic Advisors, as well as, the first woman to hold either of these positions, she does come to the table with a bit of understanding of how the American capitalist system works. If only she would expound on her comment so that all could understand what she means by “dangerous and unnecessary”. But, that isn’t how things work, is it? The government doesn’t want people to understand how things work.
It was Henry Ford who said, 'It is perhaps well enough that the people of the nation do not know or understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning'.
So, what Secretary Yellen actually means behind this statement is that for those politicians who hold, or threaten to hold the country hostage by not passing a budget to pay the country’s bills, don’t understand how the system actually works.
You see, congress holds the power to write “checks” in order to distribute money to wherever and whenever the country needs it. They hold the power of the purse. There needs to be no discussion as to how things get paid for, because this is actually how things get paid for.
Congress decides where money goes and how much. Period.
Taxes don’t pay for anything. Period.
This is part of the smoke and mirrors that our government wants you to think is the problem. What taxes do is they act as a means to remove some of the outstanding money that is in the system that is being charged interest which is the only thing that can account for a government debt.
Our country prints its own money. This means that congress can solve any problem that can be aided by putting money into the cause. Meaning, there could be health insurance for all. Period.
Public schools could be fully funded. Their teachers could receive all of the supplies necessary to do their jobs to the best of their ability and also receive appropriate pay for their work. Period.
There could always be work for anyone who wanted it by the government having a national jobs program and continual projects available to supply these jobs. Period. This would also help create a jobs supply and demand issue making the private sector jobs more competitive and pay schedules more evenly divided.
Police, fire departments, roads, schools, bridges, libraries, all public infrastructure could always be fully funded for their needs. Period.
Where the problem lies is how the elite distribute the message to the mass public at large making people think that there is a lack of funding for anything. This is actually the farthest thing from the truth.
But you are asking about the growing debt? Ah, that. Yes, even this is a facade. You see this is not debt at all. What our system refers to as debt is simply an accounting of the outstanding money that has been given to the country. This in truth is actually a positive…
You see, debt actually comes from a lack. But, in our system with Congress being able to print money or create numbers on a computer for the country’s needs at their whim is a positive. The interest that the country now owes the Federal Reserve for creating this money is what the “debt” is. Nothing more.
However, where there is a lack is an appropriate taxing of the distributed funds in order to bring that outstanding balance of money in the system down so that the “debt” or interest due on that money is manageable. The outstanding balance is not the issue. This simply means that the country, and the world, have tangible dollars, or tangible dollar tabulated assets around the world. The problem lies in the outstanding interest owed on the tangible dollar tabulated assets.
To manage this “debt” our country issues taxes to its people and its businesses. Where the problem lies is in the process and balance of how those taxes are distributed. Period.
If Congress wants to bring down the “debt” or rather to manage the interest payments on the money that is outstanding in the system which keeps the capitalist paradigm moving and most people complacent in their lives all congress needs to do is tax differently. If the people don’t want to pay higher taxes than the people need to vote in a Congress person who will make corporations and the wealthier citizens pay more in taxes. Period.
This is not a new idea. After the economic collapse in 1929 and subsequent depression to follow, Roosevelt regulated the banking industry and taxed the corporations and wealthy citizens as high as 90% on their income.
The problem today lies in the way corporate lobbyists and the elite class campaign to the masses the disinformation of the problem and how things work. It is actually very simple.
The problem lies in the effective way that the corporate lobbyists and elite citizens pay the politicians to create legislation that allows them to pay little to no taxes while garnering billions and billions and now in many cases trillions of dollars without paying taxes on the gains.
And when congress is filled with multi-millionaires and billionaires the mass must ask itself why would we think that congress would create a system that taxes the rich when they are all nearly all part of the rich class? When corporate lobbyists give hundreds of millions of dollars to the campaign coffers of these politicians why would anyone every think that the politician would vote against the interest of themselves or the parties that give them the money to campaign and stay in their power position?
I think we can all see now what is actually dangerous and unnecessary. However, in capitalism, it is within the complacency of the masses where the failure lies.
Stanley Milgram was an American social psychologist, best known for his controversial experiments on obedience conducted in the 1960s during his professorship at Yale. Milgram was influenced by the events of the Holocaust (which actually did happen), especially the trial of Adolf Eichmann.
What Milgram’s experiments found was how easy it was for the average person to simply fall in line with the rules of the game. It seems that humans are prone to follow the way of the means rather than to think for themselves. So, when the mass corporate owned media, that PR engine of the elite class, distributes the rules that people are asked to follow most people fall in line. In fact, over 65% of the time the masses will follow the instructions given them by the authority figure to the point of killing off the innocent subjects. People are led to believe that the authority know best and will assume responsibility for the people. I think we all know that this belief is unwarranted, dangerous and unnecessary.
As long as people fail to learn or fail to understand or fail to ask questions or fail to act things will remain the same. As long as the people continue to think that the government will act in the best interest of the people things will remain the same.
The government will always act in the best interest of the parties that pay for the politicians to be in power. Period.
If that is not you, then you need to learn how things actually work, understand your power and part in how things actually work, ask questions to find the answers to solve the problems that you are concerned with and to act in creating the changes that you are concerned with.
