Isms…
I have always said that it is not necessarily the “isms” but those who are in charge of the “ism” that counts. Capitalism, Socialism, Communism, Marxism, Stalinism, Fascism, nihilism, skepticism, optimism…
Capitalism is a system that is designed for a select few to benefit from while the huddled masses attempt to survive and manage on a subsistent existence. Profit for the sake of everything is the basis of the definition for capitalism. Corporate profits in the current global capitalistic system exemplify this by the record breaking profits and bonus packages to their C level players and Board members while their carefully orchestrated corporate mass media PR machine continues brainwashing the common people to blame their neighbor for making their lives so challenging and difficult to manage in this crazy capitalistic world. Labor Unions have dwindled over the past fifty years and are usually crushed by corporations and most politicians. They tend to be disbursed by police when attempting to simply make a bit of noise in which to garner only a small percentage raise for inflationary adjustments. If a corporation, such as Wells Fargo as an example, is found guilty of fraud and ripping off millions of their customers they are simply fined, allthewhile, able to keep the billions of dollars of profits made from their fraud. Therein, being criminal in a capitalistic enterprise is rewarded and in most extreme cases even bailed out by the government when the corporation does such drastic and criminal issues that become detrimental to the corporation’s or to capitalism’s existence.
Friedrich Engels was fluent in 10 languages, and his comrade Karl Marx, was fluent in four and could read in several others. The percentage of adults in the United States who barely read English at a sixth grade level is 21%. If you are reading this, know that you are on the upper end of those statistics. Yet, somehow most of America has been trained to think they know Marxism is bad without ever reading a word of what Marx or Engels ever wrote. The wheels of corporate media and capitalism doing its best work.
Socialism is a system that is designed for equality for the masses. It is a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.
I bank at a Credit Union. I shop at many stores specifically because I know that they are employee owned. I grew up in a family of union members and community organizers. I understand the benefits of citizen organization in a world which takes great strides to manufacture discontent against one’s neighbors as the reason for the plight of the masses rather than the systemic issues of capitalism and corporate greed.
It has been publicized lately that Elon Musk has become the first person to lose $200B.
To lose $200B. Let that sink in. And, with that I find it an interesting place to end…
